Question by criticalx: Do we need to buy new softwares if we upgrade from win XP to win VISTA?
My visual basic 2005 team edition programming software works fine with my current win xp OEM. I don’t know if it is going to survive if I upgrade to win vista?
What are other things we need to change if we use the new win VISTA? Because I’m trying to save $ $ from buying new softwares.

at least have 1 gb of ram (even more if u really want it to be good)
A good video card if u want to take advantage of the features.. if u do not have these things it will not let u install features like aero.
Take it from me, I upgraded my xp to vista and it was so bad that I went and just bought a new pc with it on it and now I love it.
All this bad stuff u hear about vista is because in order to use it u either gotta usually spend lots of $ $ $ or buy a new pc.
Best wishes.
Unfortunately, no.
You have to buy it.
It is separate from Windows xp.
It’s not a service pack or upgrade.
While installing Vista CD it ask for update from running Xp and Vista key.
So You need to buy xp Vista upgrade. And get a key. It’s not free.
Your all vb2005 setting would be same in Vista.
Stay with XP, it isn’t just the software, but also the hardware, you would need a new pre-built computer with Vista pre-installed to be sure everything worked properly.
